Ball and burlap trees and shrubs are plants that are field grown and professionally cared for until they reach the desired size. When these plants are ready, they are extracted from the native soil with a tree spade, the rootball is wrapped in burlap and then caged in wire so that it can be moved without disturbing the root mass.
