Unlike building a natural stone masonry wall, the dry stacked stones must fit together in such a way that they become locked in place by the force of gravity and the stones around them. Some stones will need to be shaped by hand and hammer to ensure a natural look and a proper fit.
Additionally each pallet of natural stone contains material of varying dimensions of which a certain percentage will be unusable, adding to overall material and labor costs.
