Using Container Plants in the Landscape in Chapel Hill and the surrounding areas
Benefits
-Cost: container plants are typically cheaper to install than bigger ball and burlap plant material.
-Variety: there is a larger selection of plant species available in container than there are field grown plants.
-Establish quickly: container plants are installed with their entire root mass, allowing them to quickly establish their roots in the native soil.
-Container plants already have slow release fertilizer in the soil mix that will continue to slowly feed new plantings for months to come.
Considerations
-Care: depending on the time of year and soil conditions, container plants may need to be watered more frequently than big ball and burlap material.
-Deer: even "deer resistant" plants are in danger in the chapel hill area, although not favored deer will browse just about anything if they are hungry enough. Newly planted container plants may need netting, fencing, spray, or other methods to prevent deer from pulling out ground covers, grasses, and other small shrubs and perennials.
-We offer efficient drip irrigation systems that can be hooked up to a hose spigot and set on a timer, so there is no need to remember to water, and no need to worry.
Our Experienced crew has installed tens of thousands of container plants over the years, and our lead designer has over 40 years experience building landscapes in the chapel hill area. Let us help you make your property somewhere you truly enjoy spending your time.
